NBI checks police headquarters for clues in the lawyer's ambush

Agents from the National Bureau of Investigation raided the Highway Patrol Group headquarters in Lahug, Cebu City this morning to look for the vehicles used in the ambush-slay of lawyer Noel Archival.


Found at the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) HPG headquarters is a Toyota Vios registered to a certain “Nora Yera” with plate number Found on the car's trunk is a court document crafted by Archival when he was still alive. A vanity plate PNP-111 was also on the vehicle.


Armed with a search warrant, the agents apparently were thinking that policemen were involved in last month's killing of the lawyer in Dalaguete town in Southern Cebu.


The NBI however has not made an official statement on the operations this morning. They have reserved a press conference this afternoon. Up to now, the NBI agents are still at the HPG office. Present during the operations were family members of Archival. /Senior Reporter Dale G. Israel

Traffic rerouting up in Sergio Osmena Road at the North Reclamation Area starts tomorrow

Traffic re-routing advisory for S. Osmena Boulevard rehabilitation

(CEBU CITY - Public Information Office) The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management or CITOM has announced that vehicular traffic will be re-routed due to the closure of Serging Osmena Boulevard, the portion from General Maxilom Extension up to Juan Luna Extension for Phase 1 due to concreting works and other rehabilitation works starting March 18, 2014 Tuesday. 

The traffic re-routing included the following:

1.) Public utility Jeepneys (PUJs) with Route Numbers 12G and 12J while traversing along S. Osmena Boulevard, left turn to General Maxilom Avenue, right turn to J.L. Briones Street (LTFRB), proceed to Benedicto Street, left turn to T. Padilla Extension, right turn to S. Osmena Boulevard, back to their usual route, then to their point of origin. 

2.) PUJs with Route Number 12I while traversing along S. Osmena Boulevard, take a right turn then left turn to Baclig Street, to Quimonda loading/unloading area. From Quimonda, right turn to Baclig Street, left turn to Juan Luna Avenue, left turn to JC de Veyra Street, proceed to Benedicto Street, left turn to T. Padilla Extension, right turn to Serging Osmena Boulevard, back to their usual route, then to their point of origin. 

3.) PUJs with Route Numbers 10H and 10M while traversing along Benedicto Street, left turn to General Maxilom Avenue, right turn to A. Soriano Avenue, right turn to Juan Luna Avenue, right turn to JC de Veyra Street, right turn to Road West 1 (Conching), left turn to A. Soriano Avenue, back to their usual route, then to their point of origin. 

4.) PUJs with Route Numbers 04L and 06H while traversing along Juan Luna Avenue, right turn to A. Soriano Avenue, left turn to Road West 1 (Conching), left turn to Road North 6 (A-1), left turn to Juan Luna Avenue, back to their usual route, then to their point of origin. 

Furthermore, in going to the Port Area, opening at General Maxilom Avenue shall be for Entry only while the opening at juan Luna Avenue (near Radisson Blu Hotel) shall serve as Exit only. Road closure at North Reclamation starts March 11



For commuters and motorists alike, expect traffic congestion and a few rerouted PUJs beginning March 11 as the government close down a portion of the Sergio Osmena Road at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.


The road section is commonly used by motorists access to Mandaue City's reclamation area as it connects to Ouano Avenue. PUJs from downtown Cebu City also passess through the same stretch towards SM City Cebu and the new Court offices in Quimoda Building.


“As part of the initial phase of rehabilitation, the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas (DPWH-7) will be closing a road section...with a length of 900 meters..,” the media advisory sent by the government information office reads.


The road works in the area is expected to last for about five months. Afterwards, other repairs from other road sections will start. The total road rehab project covers 2.5 kilometers. It will remove the existing asphalt cover and replace it with concrete pavement.


The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) is also expected to release PUJ rerouting schemes on the duration of the road repair soon. /Senior Reporter Dale G. Israel

Breaking: barangay captain in Toledo City, Cebu shot.

Barangay Captain in upland barangay Captain Claudio gunned down, according to radio reports. The village official identified as Alexander Alqueza was brought to a Cebu City hospital shortly after 5pm. Police are still in hot pursuit of the suspects.
