Road closure at North Reclamation starts March 11



For commuters and motorists alike, expect traffic congestion and a few rerouted PUJs beginning March 11 as the government close down a portion of the Sergio Osmena Road at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.


The road section is commonly used by motorists access to Mandaue City's reclamation area as it connects to Ouano Avenue. PUJs from downtown Cebu City also passess through the same stretch towards SM City Cebu and the new Court offices in Quimoda Building.


“As part of the initial phase of rehabilitation, the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas (DPWH-7) will be closing a road section...with a length of 900 meters..,” the media advisory sent by the government information office reads.


The road works in the area is expected to last for about five months. Afterwards, other repairs from other road sections will start. The total road rehab project covers 2.5 kilometers. It will remove the existing asphalt cover and replace it with concrete pavement.


The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) is also expected to release PUJ rerouting schemes on the duration of the road repair soon. /Senior Reporter Dale G. Israel
