Aside from massive clean up drive, the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) is intensifying the use of insecticide-treated (net) curtains for schools.
The curtains will kill mosquitoes and other insects upon contact. According to DOH-7 director Jaime Bernadas, they already covered 50 percent of the schools in the region.
The DOH has declared a nationwide dengue epidemic in the Philippines.
In Central Visayas, a total of 11,085 cases have been recorded from January 1 to August 3. The numbers exceeded the alert threshold level or higher than the previous data last year.
