AFP chief wants more troops for Visayas

New Centcom Chief, Maj. Gen. Noel Clement, wants more troops for Visayas to stop insurgency.


Since Visayas region is composed of several islands, it needs more troops so they will not constantly be moving troops from one island to the other. 


During his visit to Camp Lapu-Lapu in Cebu City yesterday, AFP Chief of Staff Clarito Galvez shared the same view. 


He specifically cited Negros and Samar as areas that have problems with insurgency.

NUPL calls for Justice amid death of lawyer

The National Union of People's Lawyers Visayas Chapter, Karapatan Central Visayas, and Anakbayan are calling for Justice following the killing of Atty. Ben Ramos in Negros Island.


Lawyer Ian Sapayan said the death had something to do with the "Mabini 6" case they are handling. He said he fears for his own life now because of the incident.


He believes that there is now a culture among lawyers handling cases of activists and illegal drug cases.

Cebu City Police Office now issues Police Clearance Cards equipped with QR Codes connected to a computerized databank.

The price of Police Clearance however is up slightly from P160 to P260. You can use the card as one of your government issued IDs.

Suspect arrested for killing of woman found in ref

Police arrested one of three suspects for the killing a 62-year-old woman whose body was placed inside refrigerator in Talisay City, Cebu.

The victim, Victoria Loa, has gone missing since November 1 and was discovered dead on November 3.

Thousands in Cebu Cemeteries

As of noontime November 1, Police said there were at least 20,000 people who visited the various cemeteries around Cebu City today.

The figures tripled later in the day especially for Carreta and Calamba cemeteries. 

Tight security is in place at the Cemeteries around Cebu for the All Saints and All Souls Day celebrations.
